As United States and the rest of the world is climbing out of the pandemic, the midsize pickup truck sales in the U.S. are rocking. Just take a look at the table below. The entire segment grew by 29.1% year-over-year. The Toyota Tacoma is still leading the pack as the best seller. The Ford Ranger is now firmly in second place. The Ranger has surpassed the combined sales of the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon by a big margin.
The Jeep Gladiator had a very successful first six months of 2021. The Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline, and GMC Canyon all showed very significant sales growth. The same cannot be said for the Chevy Colorado as the sales declined by -5.8%. The Colorado may have felt the “chip shortage” in a more significant way than others. The Chevy Colorado dealer inventories continue to be very low.
