We recently spied several Chevy Silverado 1500 and/or GMC Sierra 1500 prototypes testing in the high country of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. All unofficial accounts put these latest updated trucks as 2022 models that should be unveiled sometime this year. What are these prototypes hiding? Let’s look a little deeper.

Obviously, these trucks have exterior camouflage that covers front and rear styling changes. Judging by the cab that appears to be very similar to the current trucks, the styling changes will be relatively minor for this mid-cycle update. The interiors were also covered. We expect GM to make styling and technology updates on the inside. GMC even teased an image of the upcoming Sierra that interior with their latest Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology.

This test truck still has an exhaust system that looks similar to the current truck, so it’s likely that these prototypes are using some of the current GM trucks’ gasoline or diesel engines.

Check out the video for all the details.
