We may see the "big-three" EV trucks in about 2-3 years.

Chevrolet recently confirmed that the company is working on an all-electric pickup truck that will have a driving range of 400 miles. This was part of their 2019 sustainability report that published this month. Ford has long promised an all-electric F-150 that should arrive within the next two years. What about Ram trucks? Will Ram and/or Jeep also offer all-electric pickup truck in the near future? Here is everything we know so far.

Chevy EV Truck

We know very little about this new upcoming truck. Chevrolet only said that the truck will have a driving range of around 400 miles. We know that an early EV prototype was shown this year to a group of investors, and that it plans to use GM’s new Ultium battery technology. These new battery packs will be as large as 200 kWh (or about twice the capacity of a current Tesla Model X SUV battery).

This Chevy electric truck may be a variant of the Silverado lineup, or it could be its new model. We don’t know yet. This vehicle will have distinct look and branding to the upcoming all-electric 2022 GMC Hummer EV.

Ford EV Truck

We don’t know much about the upcoming all-electric F-150. Ford has officially stated that the F-150 EV will use Ford’s unique chassis and technology. It will not be a rebadged Rivian R1T electric truck. We now know many of the specs for the 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid. This truck will use a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with an additional electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The F-150 Hybrid will have up to a 7.2 kW energy export capability. The Hybrid uses a relatively small 1.5 kWh battery to support very limited electric driving range.

Ram EV Truck?

We know almost nothing about any future electric Ram or Jeep pickup truck. We know that Jeep is working on a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. There is also a rumor that Ram will unveil an electric Ram truck concept truck this year, when they also debut the production 2021 Ram TRX truck. This rumor is unconfirmed. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Here is another upcoming electric pickup truck – the Lordstown Endurance.
