Snake vs. Raptor!
The 2020 Shelby Super Snake Sport with the 770 horsepower V8 starts at $93,385 MSRP. That’s before some options. The Shelby Raptor (with the 525 hp twin-turbocharged V6) starts at $117,460. According to Shelby American, equipped with the supercharged V8, the Shelby Super Snake Sport will run 0 to 60 mph in 3.45 seconds. It will run from 0 to 100 mph in 8.3 seconds.
Those are top-end sports car numbers.
It’s more than power numbers. The Shelby Super Snake Sport is an all-out track monster – one that’s not meant for dirt: “The Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport was initially an R&D exercise to build a street legal truck that could deliver blistering performance,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American.
“The reactions from enthusiasts, the media and Shelby dealers were amazing. In fact, they petitioned us very hard to put it into production. Our team fast tracked the development process and we’ll begin manufacturing the super trucks in Las Vegas during the first quarter of 2020.”
Considering the difference between the trucks, it is easy to see what type of gearhead would be interested in which truck. Many people who see these trucks do not fully comprehend the sheer amount of capability they are supposed to have.
The Shelby Raptor is significantly upgraded. It’s EcoBoost V6 now makes 525 hp and 610 lbs-feet of torque. Add to that a completely upgraded (adjustable) suspension with an additional three-inches of lift, upgraded tires and wheels. There are several upgrades externally, including bumpers, steps and armor. The Shelby Raptor sports many internal upgrades including seating materials, interior components and lots of badgding.

“Internal Bypass technology offers position sensitive damping that adapts to any terrain on and off the road, providing a plush, predictable ride everywhere you go. Quick Adjust Bypass (QAB) allows you to quickly and easily adjust bypass tubes by hand, with definitive clicks at every quarter turn, making tracking adjustments easy. No tools necessary.”
Dominate the dirt or the street?
Many of you have begged Ford to bring back the vaunted Ford F-150 Lightning. While Ford has teased us with a few lukewarm offerings (like the Tremor) they have yet to deliver. On the other hand, Shelby has given us exactly the truck you street-truck lovers want… just in limited numbers.
You can read more about the Shelby Raptor (here).
The Shelby Super Snake Sport is all-new and is now available for ordering. Three are three additional (noteworthy) points: It is available with four-wheel drive. You can get the less powerful, non-supercharged version as well. The starting price (with the N/A 395 hp engine) is $86,085.
The trucks come with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Shelby will only build 250 of these trucks (each) for 2020.
Which one would you get?
