2014-19 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks recalled
Microscopic cracks in some Exhaust Gas Recirculation coolers (EGR coolers) is the main reason for the recall. This recall is for 2014-2019 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks. This is specifically related to the previous 2nd-generation of the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. FCA issued a recall of 108,000 Ram EcoDiesel trucks in the United States, 50,000 in Canada and another 2,000 sold in other markets.
The new 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is not part of the recall.
There is a potential for engine fire risk as coolant can escape, allowing heat to rise. There have been reports of minor injuries. These happened when they attempted to extinguish engine fires on their own. Currently, no crashes or other incidents (other than engine fires) have been connected to the coolant issue.

Monitor your engine’s temperature.
If you own a 2014-19 EcoDiesel, keep a close eye on your coolant temperature and coolant level. If it appears to be heating up irregularly, of it the fluid level is consistently low, contact you dealership. FCA will notify the owners of these vehicles shortly.
If you have any questions or concerns you can call 1-800-853-1403.
We have no information on other EcoDiesel vehicles (like the Jeep Grand Cherokee) and we suggest you call 1-800-853-1403 for information.
