We have already taken the new Gladiator off-road, and we know that it is a good off-road truck. Now, it’s time to find out exactly how it handles a mountain towing test.

The Gladiator currently has one engine option. It’s basically the same 3.6-liter V6 that you can also find in the Jeep Wrangler. It’s rated at 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. In this Rubicon, the engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

On the way down, we counted 11 brake applications. On the way up the 7% grade, the truck slowed down and ran a 9:54 time up the 8-mile stretch oh highway. The trip meter showed a relatively good 4.7 MPG.
