We use many different trailers to test the latest pickup trucks on the Ike Gauntlet – world’s toughest towing test, and mpg loops. We do not usually focus our attention on the trailer itself.
This Cimarron Norstar 4HLQ trailer deserves a closer look as it is one of the biggest, most luxurious, and most expensive trailers out there. In fact, the retail price on this trailer is $222,935 – just about the same as a new Lamborghini.

Reverse/Reverse Horse Trailer
This 47-foot four-horse trailer has a luxurious living quarters done by Outlaw Conversions. It has two exclusive features not found anywhere else. It’s called a “reverse reverse” horse load trailer. The trailer is designed to hold horses with their heads pointed to the rear of the trailer “reverse”, and the horse loading door is on the “driver side” of the trailer to allow for a bigger door opening. It’s a reverse of where the side loading door would normally be.
Triple-Axle Air Suspension
Next up is a unique triple-axle system. It’s using 8,000 lbs torsion suspension axles and shock absorbers and air-bag suspension. The air suspension allows for a lower trailer height for loading, and ride comfort when raised. Total height adjustment is approximately two inches. The unique part is a rear axle remote air dump system. A simple push of remote control button inside the truck’s cab dump the air from the rear axle, effectively taking the weight off of it. This makes tighter turning maneuvers easier. The trailer turns like a dual-axle trailer. Once a tight turn is complete, another push of a button puts the air back in. There is an indicator light that reminds the driver when the rear axle is unloaded.
This trailer’s large living space can accommodate several people with ease. All of the latest conveniences are there, including satellite TV antenna.
