How Low Can a 2019 Ram HD 2500 Prototype Go? Does It Have 4-Corner Air Suspension?

We are just about two months away from the official debut of the new 2019 Ram HD trucks (2019 Detroit Auto Show in January), but here we get another clear look at the prototypes that are testing in public. This time it’s in Florida.

These high resolution images show several interesting details.

The rear LED lights appear to be very similar, if not identical, to the 2019 Ram 1500 taillights. It appears that the rear lights also have the radar sensors for the blind spot detection system, but it cannot be 100% verified at this time.

The image of the two prototypes from the back shows them riding a little higher than in higher resolution shots from the side. It may just be an optical illusion, but if the prototype can have a different front & rear ride height – it points to the 4-corner air suspension. Ram has used air-suspension helper springs on their heavy duty trucks before, but will they switch to a fully adjustable 4-corner air suspension for the new trucks?

These prototypes look to be well-optioned and luxurious trucks (perhaps Laramie or Laramie Longhorn trim levels). The trucks have power folding side steps, LED lights, and what appear to be 20-inch rim with Firestone tires.

These prototypes may have towing packages, judging by the large side mirrors. We expect the 2019 Ram HD truck to continue with power-folding side mirrors.

It’s not clear which engine might be under the hood. The exhaust pipe looks small enough to be attached to a gas V8 engine. We expect the 6.4L HEMI V8 to continue for 2019 and beyond. It may get an eTorque mild hybrid system, and/or a little power increase. This is just speculation at this point.

Here are some of the other details we know so far about the upcoming 2019/2020 Ram HD trucks.
