Here we get the best look yet at the upcoming new 2019 Ram HD. How new is it? Is it a refresh of the current heavy duty truck, or is there much more to it than meets the eye?

2019 Ram HD

These latest prototype images reveal the new grille and headlight design, that share family resemblance to the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 truck. The HD prototype headlights have a unique shape, and the HD grille looks big and imposing.

What we still don’t know is whether the 2019 Ram HD will be built on a redesigned frame and suspension?

We expect that Ram HD will mirror the same trims levels and interior designs with the new light-duty half-ton. We are talking about the: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Laramie Longhorn, and the Limited.

Naturally, Ram will up the ante on the diesel engine’s torque. We expect more than 935 lb-ft of torque for 2019, but crossing the 1,000 lb-ft barrier is unlikely. Will the new HD get a bigger 7.0L HEMI V8? Will the 6.4L HEMI’s power be increased? We do not know this yet.

It’s possible the new heavy duty trucks will use an HD version of the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

We do not know many of the new Ram HD technical specs, but here is our take on what’s coming up.
