2020 Chevy Silverado HD
This prototype is towing a large gooseneck flat-bed trailer that is equipped with dual axles with dually wheels. We have used a similar trailer extensively, and we know that an empty trailer similar to this can weigh between 7,500 – 8,500 lbs. This one is loaded with a few cement blocks.
We do not know what towing capacities GM is targeting for the next generation trucks, but we can guess that the new heavy duty trucks will have a lighter curb weight thanks to aluminum body components (hood, doors, and tailgate). A lighter truck will be able to haul and tow more than the current truck.
Also visible are the new door-mounted large side towing mirrors. This prototype does not appear to have a signature hood scoop that indicates a Duramax turbo-diesel under the hood. Perhaps, the hood scoop is well hidden under the camouflage, or this is the next generation of the gas-powered heavy duty.
Check out the video below for all of the other details we know so far. The 2020 Chevy HD trucks should go on sale next year, about a year from now.
