We get the first official look under the hood of a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 3.0L straight-six Duramax turbo-diesel engine. Chevrolet recently published an online configurator for the all-new 2019 Silverado, and these engine images and specs are on their new Silverado page.

There is a lot going on with the new I6 diesel (codename LM2). The turbocharger, EGR, and exhaust treatment systems can be seen, as well as a small plastic engine cover that simply says “DIESEL”.

Chevrolet  (or GM) have not officially released Diesel engine output, fuel economy, or towing specifications yet. Although, we received an information leak that gave us an un-official glimpse at what 3.0L Duramax numbers in a GMC Sierra 1500 might be.  In short, the engine was listed in dealership materials at 282 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing was listed at 7,800 lbs, and highway fuel economy showed at 28 MPG. You can watch us discussing the leaked materials in the video below.

It’s likely that GM will tweak these specs before the Diesel engine goes on sale next year. Chevrolet has said that the Silverado 1500 diesel will go on sale in 2019 for the 2019 model year.

Chevy also release images of all engine options for the new Silverado.
