Ram is introducing the previous DS generation of the Ram 1500 as Classic edition for the 2019 model year. It will be offered in three cab configurations and three different bed lengths as before, and it will be sold alongside the fully-redesigned DT generation of the 2019 Ram 1500 lineup.

The 2019 Ram Classic is targeting the more affordable end of the truck market. It will be sold in following trim levels: Tradesman, Express, Big Horn/Lone Star, and Special Services Vehicle (SSV). It will be available in regular, quad, and crew cab configurations. It will be standard with a 3.6L V6, have an optional 5.7L V8, and (a little later) a 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel.

The 2019 Ram Classic will be built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan.

What does this mean for the availability of the new Ram trucks with the eTorque powertrain? Will this delay the next generation of the 2020 Ram HD trucks? We do not have these answers at this time. Ram did not announce pricing of the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic trucks. The company only said the Classic half-ton trucks will be on sale later this year, and will continue on sale through the end of 2018 calendar year.
