The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 makes its official debut in Detroit this week. The company showed the SLT and the Denali trim of the all-new Sierra. While the chassis and powertrains are shared between the Sierra and Silverado, there are also a lot of differences.
The hood, grille, and the headlights are the obvious differences – but there is much more. GMC stamped unique front fenders and rear bed sides that have unique asymmetrical wheel arches. There are also unique wheel designs, trim pieces and front tow hooks.
The 2019 GMC Sierra also has five features that are not available on the new Silverado or any other pickup truck. Check out the video below as we count down these unique features that include the carbon fiber composite bed and a double-folding tailgate that offers up to six distinct uses.
Both the new Silverado and the Sierra have will user the next generation of the 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines. The 3.0L turbo-diesel straight-six will also be available for the first 2019 model year. The 6.2L V8 and the 3.0L diesel will be paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
We still do not know the power output specifications, payload, towing, or efficiency estimates. However, GMC will have another debut event ahead of the 2018 New York Auto Show on March 26th, 2018. They call the upcoming event “the next chapter”.
Here is everything about the 2019 Silverado interior and exterior design.
