September 2017 was a good month for truck manufacturers, as sales of full-size pickups increased over last year for all but one truck maker (Ram did not improve over September 2016). In part, the improved pickup sales had to do with many vehicles being damaged in Texas and Florida due to devastating hurricanes. Truck sales should remain strong in October and November for the same reason, while manufacturers have time to replenish dealer inventories.
Chevy trucks had a very good September with a 21.7% improvement in sales. However, Ford F-Series is still in the number one sales spot with 82,302 trucks sold in September. Ram trucks sales decreased a bit when compared to last year, but the company is still firmly in third place and continues to ratchet up the pressure on Chevrolet.
GMC, Toyota, and Nissan showed good results as well, although GMC is down -6.1% in Year-To-Date sales.
