How fast can a big heavy duty pickup truck really be? In this case, it’s a lifted and tuned 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty. This truck starts with a 6.4-liter turbo-diesel V8 that produces 350 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque in stock form. It also has a 5-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel-drive.
Tyler Stotsky brought this tuned and modified Ford to “Run What You Brung” from Wyoming. The truck has many custom touches, including a Move PreRunner steel bumper and blacked out headlight. More importantly, it has aftermarket intercooler piping, air intake, and a completely custom-built exhaust system that culminates in dual stacks behind the cab. On the software side, there is an SCT tuner that allow for several different programming options. The tuner can be set to add around 250 horsepower and over 510 lb-ft of torque. Tyler has not yet dyno-tested his truck, but the truck is likely putting out over 600 horsepower and 1,160 lb-ft of torque at the crank.
Run What You Brung is all about naming a 1/4 mile time that you think your truck can run, and then coming as close as possible to that goal. Tyler wanted to run a 14.2 second quarter mile at more than a mile above sea level (Bandimere Speedway).
