GMC adds a new trim package to the 2016 Yukon and Yukon XL lineup. It’s the 2016 GMC Yukon Premium. It uses the mid-level Yukon SLT as a starting point and adds a new flair with a healthy dose of chrome.
The Premium package brings the following four elements:
- Unique design 22-inch chrome-wheels
- Unique design chrome grille
- Bright chrome body-side moldings
- Polished exhaust tip

This package builds on top of an already well appointed SLT model that uses a 5.3-liter V8 engine. A 2WD Yukon SLT is capable of 23 MPG on the highway. These truck-based SUVs are rated at towing 8,500 lbs and 8,300 lbs for the Yukon and Yukon XL respectively when configured with 2WD.
The Yukon SLT starts at $58,195. The Premium package will be available in the summer of 2016 (in just a couple of months). Exact pricing for the package has not yet been announced. Can you look at the Yukon Premium as a Yukon Denali on a budget? Well, you get the 22-inch rims and a unique look, although you miss other special Denali features. Still, a Yukon Denali 2WD starts at $66,520 and tops out at over $72,000. If the Premium package is well priced, then it could really be a Denali on a budget.
