Police departments and government agencies now have more options when it comes to large tactical vehicles. Enter the 2016 Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle (SSV). This package takes the F-150 truck in XL trim and customizes it to meet the more diverse needs of law enforcement and other fleet customers.
The truck receives a high-output 240-amp alternator and interior modifications to allow for easier cleaning and custom center console options. Interestingly, Ford does not specify any other mechanical components have been upgraded. The seats and floor are vinyl in this SSV and the standard center console is removed. Other options include a bull-bar in the front, as well as red-and-blue lights. The top light bar is attached with a bed-rail mounted frame.
Ford is offering many options for the police-duty F-150. The SSV truck can be configured with either 4×4 or 4×2, Super Cab or Super Crew, a 5.0L V8 or a 3.5L EcoBoost V6. This should offer plenty of combinations to cover most requirements.
The SSV package is also be available on the Ford Expedition. The F-150 SSV joins the Ford Transit Prisoner Transport, Ford Special Service Sedan, and Ford Police Interceptor Utility.
