The Toyota Tacoma has not changed very much since the redesign for the 2005 model year. That was over ten years ago. This is not necessarily a bad thing for a truck. Reliability, simplicity, and familiarity have kept the Tacoma on top of the sales charts for much of this period. The truck also commands a strong resale value.
The 2015 model is using the same 4.0-liter V6 that puts out 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The 5-speed automatic does the shifting. This particular truck is a long bed and wheel-base Double Cab 4×4 with the TRD Off-road package.
There is an all-new 2016 Tacoma coming at the end of this year. It will use a redesigned 3.5-liter V6 and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
