Roman’s Note: We need your help please (or to be more specific John from Colorado needs your help and buying advice). Every week we get many emails asking us about which truck is the best one to buy. However in this case John is asking about reliability (see his email below).
As you may know we only spend a week behind the wheel of our test trucks so we don’t review reliability, but we know many of TFL readers have spent a much longer time behind the wheel of their trucks. Please help John from Colorado with a moment of your advice in the comments below. Thanks!
Hey guys, I watch and catch your reviews and videos a lot. However, I have a few questions I was hoping you could help. These may not be easily answered (or maybe you could give me your best OPINION or feedback). So I am in need of either a Ram or Ford. I think I have cut the 1500 Silverado out. So let start by asking two questions that I’m worried or concerned about with the new Ram 2015 EcoDiesel and the new 2015 f150 2.7L turbo.
- New engine 2015 EcoDiesel, I’m Concerned about its longevity, and it’s reliability due the newness and NO track record of these concerns.
- Knowing gas will eventually rise again and diesel will go up then this would be a lot more more in fuel cost and adding the higher cost of this Diesel engine ..to the mix
- The ford EcoBoost 2.7L same concerns with reliability studies , no track record , longevity , material of concerns 2 turbos on that engine more areas of failure ?
- I would prob pull a trailer no larger then 8×10, with no more then 2000 lbs weight of products inside trailer (Maybe max 3 – 4 times a month pulling a trailer).
- The truck would be my family car/ truck for work school and the gas mileage is a factor 🙂
- So I need something reliable and that can provide comfort and work. Then help me somehow to get back to fishing /hunting/ camping/ just getting out , get up and go. 😉
Thanks in advance for any answers or opinions.
And sorry this was so long, I hope it gave you a snapshot of me and my needs/questions.
Cheers guys and again thanks,
John in Colorado
