The giant racing trucks will once again hit the 2015 Dakar off-road rally. The KAMAZ Master Team returns looking for their 12th overall Dakar victory. They are bringing four racing trucks and five support vehicles. The top three trucks will be driven by: Eduard Nikolaev (#502), Andrey Karginov (#500), and Ayrat Mardeev (#507). Dmitry Sotnikov (#520) rounds out the foursome.

The Russian team reckons that there are no fewer than 20 trucks that are competing for the win in 2015. There is a lot of driving talent and formidable machinery from IVECO, MAN, and TATRA. All together there are 67 entries in the 2015 Dakar truck division.

What powers the racing KAMAZ 4326 4×4? The Russian team is using Liebherr turbo-diesel engines that are produced in Bulle, Switzerland. Naturally, racing specifications are not known, but Liebherr prides themselves on reliability and good power delivery, as well as capability in extreme temperatures and high elevations. The engine is based on the 16.2-liter V8 turbo-diesel with a stock output of 677 horsepower at 1,900 rpm. The company does not provide a torque rating, but it’s safe to say it’s not lacking in torque.
