The all-new 2014 Ford Transit Connect has ramped up production and is spreading its sales wings with a 41.8% growth month-over-month and 2.4% year-to-date in July 2014.
The leading Ford E-series grew a little this month, but it’s winding down. The all-new full-size 2015 Ford Transit continues a second month of production with 496 units going out to customers. It will be interesting to see whether the Transit can eventually lead this segment, as the E-series has done for so many years.
Chevy Express and GMC Savana are going out with a bang in their last year of production. Chevy has already stopped production of the Express 1500. Existing customers and other fans of the GM vans are gobbling up all the units. The Express grew 41.4% for the month, and GMC Savana was again best growing van at 156.6% for the month and 106.7% YTD. Will GM abandon the full-size van market completely?
The 2014 Ram ProMaster was just 13 vans shy of taking over the Nissan NV for seventh sales spot for the month. And the smaller Nissan NV200 is not too far away either. ProMaster is picking up steam and Nissan should watch carefully.
