Cold weather added to the beginning of the year pickup truck and commercial van sales challenges. There was a general tendency of year-over-year sales losses in January 2014. However, three trucks showed immunity to cold weather or any other challenge. They were: Ram truck line, Toyota Tundra, and the Nissan Frontier. The Ram continued its sales momentum from last year with an even and impressive 22% growth over January of last year. Tundra looks healthy with 12.6% gains. While the Frontier accelerated sales even further with a huge 87.9% improvement.
By the way, we are hearing rumors that the Frontier may get a new engine option. The news may come out at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show later this week. Stay tuned for TFLtruck coverage from the show.
