This is the final piece of the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel puzzle. We now have the EPA fuel economy estimates for this light duty pickup, powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. The numbers for the 2WD model are: 20 MPG city / 28 MPG highway / 23 MPG combined. If you are looking at the 4×4 model, you will lose an MPG. The four wheel drive is rated at: 19 / 27 / 22.
We can tell you that the EPA is actually fairly accurate on the combined MPG rating for this engine, perhaps a hair lower than real-world numbers. We recently tested the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same 3.0L diesel, and came away very impressed. The Jeep is rated at 24 MPG combined, and we got 24.5 MPG after a week of mixed driving and in cold weather. You can actually do much better than EPA on the highway. We scored 32.5 MPG taking the Jeep on a 50 mile interstate jaunt at 75 MPH.
You can order yours very soon (Feb 7, 2014).
