We drive our 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor and GMC Canyon AT4X AEV edition high into the Colorado Rocky Mountains to climb one of the highest elevation trails. However, Nathan and I are stopped before we get to the very top. Join us for this midsize super pickup truck comparison. Let’s dig in!
Midsize pickup trucks are getting ever more capable from the factory. The Ranger Raptor and Canyon AT4X AEV are prime examples of this. These midsizers have sophisticated 4WD systems, raised suspensions, front/rear locking differentials, fancy dampers, and all-terrain tires.
Still, there are quite different. The Ranger Raptor is packing a high-out twin-turbo V6 engine. The Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is riding on 35-inch all-terrain tires and has a significantly better ground clearance.

You may be wondering where the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro or Tacoma Trailhunter are? We tried to get a new Tacoma Trailhunter for this comparison, but it did not work out. We hope to get one soon, and do something similar to this trail run.
