The 2017 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel are now certified for sale in the United States. FCA has announced that the company received a certificate of conformity from the Environmental Protection Agency EPA and a conditional executive order from the Air Resources Board (ARB) of the State of California.
The solution to the emissions certification includes a software update to the engine controller unit. FCA says that the software update will not affect the vehicle’s MPG estimates or vehicle’s performance. The fix will not require any hardware replacement or modification.
FCA will continue to work with the government agencies in order to update the emissions software on 2014-2016 model year vehicles.
