Will Ford add a new F-150 Tremor off-road package to the lineup to compete more directly against the Ram Rebel and Chevy Trail Boss trucks? A recent report from FordAuthority suggests that such a truck is under development. The two-door prototype truck you see here is reportedly an early F-150 Tremor test vehicle.
Ford F-150 Tremor?
The F-150 has been available with the FX4 off-road package for many years. The FX4 package provides:
- off-road tuned shocks
- electronically locking rear differential
- skid plates
- several options of all-terrain tires
- hill descent control
- tray-style floor mats
- FX4 badging/decals
This is a relatively affordable way ($905) to make your F-150 more off-road worthy, but it’s not as serious of an off-road package as a new Ram Rebel or Chevy Silverado Trail Boss. The Ram and Chevy/GMC trucks offer a suspension lift over a regular version of their respective trucks. The Ram and GM packages also offer aggressive A/T and mud-terrain tires (GoodYear Wrangler Duratracs). The Ford F-150 FX-4 does not offer such an aggressive tire option.
Ford Super Duty Tremor
Ford recently unveiled the 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor off-road truck package that will be available on crew cab heavy duty trucks on various F-250 and F-350 trim levels. This news makes the idea of an upcoming F-150 Tremor off-road truck more plausible.

Here are all the details on the 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor.
