Is the new 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 2.7L Turbomax 4-cylinder faster than the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 Ford F-150? Let’s find out by taking these two trucks and a third surprise truck to our TFL Airstrip for some fun 1/4-mile drag racing. Let’s go!

The 2.7L Turbomax 4-cylinder is the base engine for the new Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 lineup. It’s the high-output version of the engine with a rating of 310 hp @ 5,600 rpm and 430 lb-ft @ 3,000 rpm. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 3.42-to-1 rear axle ratio. This relatively small engine offers more torque than many V8 engines. This engine represents torque.

The 2.7L Ecoboost V6 in the base Ford F-150 is rated at 325 hp @ 5,000 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm. It’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 3.55-to-1 rear axle ratio. This engine represents power.

We are testing a Silverado 1500 crew cab RST 4×4 and an F-150 crew cab XLT 4×4. These are comparable trim levels, but the F-150 has a slight weight advantage. It weighs about 200 lbs less. This is largely due to its all-aluminum cab and bed construction.

Let’s go drag racing! Please join Kase and I in the video below. Kase also brought a surprise that something in common with the Silverado 1500. Check it out!
