What’s the latest news with the new Scout pickup truck and SUV? I get an up close and personal look at the new Scout Motors Terra electric pickup truck and the Traveler electric SUV. Both of these models are being offered with a gasoline engine as a ranger extender for up to 500 miles of total driving range. Let’s dig into all the details.

First, the Scout Motors factory construction is making progress. This factory is near Blythewood, South Carolina. The “paint shop” part of the factory is complete. The rest of the factory will be closed in soon. Scout is preparing to bring in the factory machinery soon. Scout Motors is a standalone company that is largely funded by the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen Group has provided some updates. The company says Scout will use a four cylinder VW gasoline engine as a ranger extender in the Scout Harvester models. VW also says that Scout has around 60,000 reservations so far. The majority of these reservations are for the range-extender Harvester models.

Scout Motors continues to say that they expect to start production of the Terra and the Traveler vehicles in 2027. We will have to watch this space closely for more updates.

Please join me in the video below. This is my first time seeing these vehicles in person. The design and attention to detail is second to none. These vehicles are a little larger in person, than I initially imagined them to be.

The Scout Terra pickup truck has a 148 inch wheelbase. This is about three inches longer than a current Ford F-150 crew cab with a short bed. The Scout Traveler has a wheelbase on nearly 121 inches. This is about the same as a full-size Chevy Tahoe.
