Leaked! The TRX And Hemi V8s (Yes, Plural) Will Return to the Ram 1500 Lineup

If you aren’t a Hurricane fan, the TRX is reportedly coming back from the dead!

Oh what changes a few months can bring, huh? Carlos Tavares resigned from his post as Stellantis CEO back in December, company veteran Tim Kuniskis is back in, and we’re seeing some shakeups to the plan for Ram. Rumors have swirled for the past couple months ever since that late-year shift, including whether Ram would reintroduce its Hemi V8 engines to its half-ton lineup. Well, according to notes leaked from a Wisconsin dealer (shown by Sportsnaut) showing a whole host of Stellantis’ upcoming plans, it looks like Hemi enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to in the next little while.

To borrow a phrase: Looks like meat’s back on the menu, boys!

Mopar Insiders, for its part, confirmed through its “reliable sources” (though they’re unnamed, for obvious reasons) that the Ram 1500 TRX is indeed making its return. Right now, it’s looking like we’ll see the T-Rex make a monstrous comeback in 2026, and I suspect Kuniskis will be gunning to get it out as soon as possible. He’s not the kind of guy who will abide Ford staying at the top of the heap with the F-150 Raptor R, even if Tavares was willing to relinquish Ram’s dominance in the super truck game.

To that end, what can we expect from a revived TRX? Rather than a beefed up 3.0-liter Hurricane engine, it seems Ram will tap into the good-old 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 to make this happen. In the spirit of, “Hey, we’re not going to sit back and let Ford kick our ass”, I have a feeling we may see something closer to the 797-horsepower Hellcat Redeye as far as output this time around. To be clear, that is complete speculation at the moment — and definitely wishful thinking, to be honest — but we’ll have to wait and see when and how Kuniskis and his team plan on getting this done.

While Ram obviously won’t directly comment on future product, there’s a strong need for Ram to turn its recent fortunes around. We all know bringing back the Hemi V8 would be a popular move.

2023 Ram 1500 Rebel G/T

But wait, that’s not all!

When Ram introduced the redesigned 2025 1500 lineup, it introduced some under-the-skin changes that may have made it difficult to bring the Hemi V8 back from the dead. Well, evidently the Ram team is going to make it happen, because the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 will be back in the rotation in due time. Not only that, but the Big Hemi — the 6.4-liter that has only been available in Ram’s HD offerings — is also joining the lineup.

Oh, and Ram is, apparently, finally going to introduce a diesel Power Wagon. Why not? No, seriously — it’s needed to happen for years now, and it looks like the brand will have a direct answer to the Chevy Silverado 2500HD ZR2/GMC Sierra 2500HD AT4X as well as the Ford F-250 Tremor. The HD Rebel, then, looks like it’d act as the mid-range off-road option, much like it does with the half-ton.

Again, at this point we don’t have direct confirmation from Ram that any of this is going on. All of it is plausible, though, given a gung-ho attitude and a green light from the higher-ups. With Tavares out of the picture and Stellantis chairman John Elkann calling the shots (at least while the company finds a new CEO), it seems the roadblocks to a Hemi comeback have fallen.
