Nissan is bringing three very cool pickup trucks to this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV that goes all week starting tomorrow evening. They are the NISMO Off-Road Nissan Frontier V8 Concept, Nissan Street Truck, and a Sunny LEAF project.
First up is the “Sunny LEAF” project truck. It’s a 1987 Datsun pickup that has been EV swapped with a factory Nissan LEAF electric motor and battery system. This project is done by Tommy Pike Customs (TPC) in South Carolina. This means it has a 147 horsepower electric motor and a 40 kWh battery. This doesn’t sound like a lot of power or battery, but this is an affordable electric powertrain that matches this compact lightweight pickup chassis.
Next up is the Nissan Street Truck concept. It’s a “low rider” Nissan Frontier King Cab that brings great memories of the 1990s “mini truckin’ ” scene. This project is done by Christina Roki.
Finally, there is a truck that is getting us the most excited. It is a wide-body lifted Nissan Frontier 4×4 crew cab with a Titan gasoline V8 under the hood. It’s called the NISMO Off-Road 5.6L V8 Frontier concept, and it’s showing many Nissan NISMO off-road parts and customized work by Forsberg Racing. Yea! This Frontier concept build uses a few Nissan Titan parts, including the wider rear axle. The front track is also made wider. There Bilstein shocks and 34-inch mud-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels round out this handsome desert truck.
We will bring you all this from SEMA 2022 in person soon. In the meantime, here is a video on a Nissan Frontier Hardbody concept from earlier this year.
