Full-size Pickup Truck Sales Decline Big Time in the U.S. – Q1 2022 Sales Report

Q1 2022 continues to be a very tough time for full-size and heavy-duty pickup truck manufacturers. Sales continue to decline across the board with the exception of the Toyota Tundra. The Ford F-Series is still the number one selling brand name, but combined General Motors sales (Silverado + Sierra) are significantly ahead. All the detail are here.

Full-size Truck U.S. Sales: Q1 2022

Ford had the toughest time last quarter. The sales declined by -31.0% over the same time of last year. Ram truck sales are now about 13,000 behind the F-Series. The Chevy Silverado is in third place. General Motors separated its heavy-duty pickup truck sales from their half-tons. This is a separate table below. It’s interesting to note that the GM HD pickups continue sales growth, and it helps to offset the sales declines of their light-duty full-size trucks.

**Rivian currently does not break down sales numbers by vehicle. The company delivered 1,227 R1T, R1S, or Van vehicles in Q1 2022. Rivian says the company produced 2,553 vehicles over the same time period of Q1.

The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra continues to gain sales momentum. Toyota sold 10,960 trucks in March 2022. The Nissan Titan sales continue to decline. We don’t yet have sales numbers for the Rivian R1T, but GMC reports that it sold 99 Hummer EV pickup trucks last quarter.
