2014 and 2015 GM Light Duty Truck recall continues bad streak for the company

GM recalls have recently dominated the news, and here comes another big one.  This one covers the light duty 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and 2015 GMC Yukon / Yukon XL vehicles equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission.  This involves approximately 490,200 pickup trucks and SUVs.

The core issue of this truck recall is a loosely fitting transmission oil cooler lines, which may cause an oil leak and a potential fire.  GM is aware of three incidents and no injuries that are related to this.  Of course, not all of the recalled vehicles will have this potential problem, and the dealership needs to inspect the fittings for leaks.  GM anticipates to send the mailing to the affected owners the week of April 28, 2014.  However, if you have noticed a leak, you may want to alert your dealer sooner.

This recall combines with other GM product recalls for an astounding total of 4.8 million vehicles since February of this year.  GM pickup trucks and cars are well liked and awarded (2014 Chevrolet Silverado is North American Truck of the Year), but the company needs to address these manufacturing quality issues.
