Ford Will Close 2024 Ranger Raptor Order Banks on July 31: Report

If you're gunning to get the top-dog Ranger, you only have about a week left to get your order in

The 2024 Ford Ranger just started making it out to customers, but Ford is reportedly closing the order bank for Raptor models next week.

If it feels like the brand-new Ford Ranger only just started making it out onto the streets (and trails) in earnest, you aren’t wrong. After an initially targeted mid-to-late 2023 launch date, the automaker actually started getting units out to anxiously awaiting customers and dealers this spring. That includes the top-dog Raptor, which the TFL team has been testing for the past three months. Now, though, CarsDirect reports Ford is aiming to stop retail Ranger Raptor orders next Wednesday, July 31.

The company’s letter to dealers states, per the report, that “dealer allocation and commodity constraints play a significant role in the ability to schedule customer retail orders.” Further elaborating on that issue, Ford more specifically explains that its inability to source enough of the required parts to ship Ranger Raptors out in the necessary numbers played into the decision to cut retail orders off next week. Further complicating the Ranger’s launch was the six-week UAW strike, which also constrained parts supply to ship trucks out of the Michigan Assembly Plant in the original time frame.

At the moment, Ford’s reported decision to close the order books only applies to the 2024 Ranger Raptor — not the XL, XLT or Lariat trims. Ford has also not officially announced a July 31 cut-off date for retail 2024 Ranger Raptor orders, and has not gone on record commenting on the letter to dealers CarsDirect cites.

So, while it’s wise to approach the topic with a grain of salt, there’s still a word of caution in this report. Time appears to be running out to lock in a 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor order, and we don’t yet know when the order books will open for the 2025 model year. (Ford, for its part, did not comment on when the books would open up in the dealer letter, either.)

For 2024, at least, the new Ranger Raptor is available at $57,215 MSRP. That said, some dealers are still keen to charge well above sticker price. If you’re thinking about trying to grab a truck of a dealer lot, you may need to travel some distance to actually lock one down at Ford’s suggested price, which is $8,010 less than a new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, or $9,000 less than a Trailhunter.
