Whoa! Chevrolet just teases us with what may be the upcoming 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison. The company has not made any official statements about this yet, but they unveiled this camouflaged prototype in Sparks, Nevada at Chad Hall Off-Road Racing shop. Here is everything we know about this crazy interesting off-road pickup truck.

2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison

The next midsize Bison pickup truck is based on the new 2023 Colorado ZR2. It means it gets an updated chassis, a turbocharged high-output 2.7-liter I4 engine, DSSV spool valve dampers by Multimatic, front, and rear locking differentials.

Traditionally speaking the Bison version should mainly just include a full skid plate package, steel bumpers, and unique wheels. What we see in this prototype is a whole next level of equipment. It rides on larger tires than the 2023 ZR2. The tires on this prototype are 315/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratacs. This translates to a 34.4-inch diameter tire that is 12.4 inches wide. This is a large footprint.

Next, it has a long-travel version of the DSSV dampers and hydraulic jounce stops in the rear – just like (or very similar to) the Chad Hall racing Chevy Colorado ZR2 truck. Did Chevrolet just show an intent to produce an off-road racing truck you can drive every day? We will have to wait and see…

What is under the hood of this prototype? We do not know for sure, but I hope it’s a more powerful version of the 2.7-liter turbo-4. In the 2023 ZR2 Colorado, the engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Perhaps, Chevy Performance can increase the power further with a higher flowing intake and exhaust systems? What power level would you like to see?

This Colorado ZR2 Bison would join the extensive line of Chevrolet off-road trucks, the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 Bison, and the new 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 Bison.
