What Does Future Hold for the Ford Ranger in the United States?

We recently had the opportunity to drive the 2017 Ford F-150 and ask the Ford Truck team the questions that you submitted. Thank you for sending us all of your questions about the 2017 F-150 and Ford trucks in general. You can read all of the questions and watch all of the answers in the following article.

One of your most popular questions was about the future of the Ford Ranger in the United States. There has been some information from the United Auto Workers (UAW) and Ford that suggests that the next generation of the Ford Ranger will be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant staring in calendar year 2018. The bigger question is, does this mean that Ford will sell the midsize Ranger pickup in the United States?

The midsize pickup segment is alive and well. In fact, it’s growing. Since the Ranger left in 2011, Chevrolet, GMC, Honda, and Toyota have all redesigned their midsize trucks. Nissan will likely redesign their truck within the next two years, and there is strong evidence that Jeep will introduce a midsize pickup truck in a similar timeframe. Ford is the only one in the group who is not getting a piece of this pie. Perhaps, they are working on something…

I asked this question to Ford Truck’s marketing manager, Doug Scott. This short video is what he had to say.
