Nissan Should Build the Titan Warrior Concept Truck Yesterday

This week in Detroit Nissan unveiled a truck that needs no additional truck balls to make it more manly. The new new Nissan Titan Warrior concept truck is what the company should be building to bring attention, credibility, and a serious dose of testosterone to its current truck lineup.

I’ll let you decide for yourself. Just take a look at the video below that gives you an up-close and personal view of the truck, including those really cool integrated LED lights above the cab. Sure, the truck is as wide as a Freightliner and anyone under 5 feet tall will need a trampoline to get into the cab, but I say that’s all the better because a 9-foot lift will help forge the mighty Mississippi when it floods.

Let’s get real for a second. In America, trucks are the ultimate expression of manhood. In other words, how much a truck can tow is directly equivalent to the size of the owner’s man bits… at least in some owners’ minds. I’m sure you’ve seen the pickup commercials that feature trucks towing mountains, small villages, and airplanes. BTW: Who the hell tows a 747 through a ring of fire up a mountain? But if you believe the commercials, this is what most of us tow with our trucks on a lazy weekend.

The problem is that the current Titan XD with the Cummins diesel tows about 12,000 pounds, depending on its configuration. That’s the same weight that the Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo can tow as well as the Chevy Silverado with the 6.2L V8. These gasoline half-ton trucks are keeping up with the towing performance of a serious “tweener” diesel-powered truck with a beefy frame.  I can guess what that means to potential Titan XD owners, just like the grinch who stole Christmas their trucks balls just got two sizes too small. So if you can’t tow a mountain, plane or small village with an almost HD truck, the only other option is to be very good off-road… or at least look the part.

The current Nissan Titan XD looks a lot like an Asian F-150. This not a bad thing necessarily but the designer of the truck says this concept is what he was going for all along when he penned the new Titan. I love it. It’s the ultimate factory Baja 1000 Pre-Runner.  Sure, you can build D.I.Y. Baja Pre-Runner trucks, but I’ve driven more than a few SEMA poser trucks and please trust me when I write they look much better than they drive.

Of course Nissan should built it. Of course they should have built it yesterday because it is the best looking off-road truck built by a mainstream truck manufacturer.

What’s your take on this concept? Are you like me and do you want to see this beast win the wild in Moab? Please check out the video from Detroit’s auto show and let us know in the comments below.
