The 2015 Ford Everest is based on the all new 2015 Ford Ranger platform. The new 2015 Ford Ranger, you can read about it (here) will be available in a multitude of markets, except ours. The same goes for the 2015 Ford Everest. The 2015 Ford Everest is smaller than a Ford Expedition, but larger than a Ford Edge. It has a real body-on-frame setup and has three rows of seats.

The 2015 Ford Everest comes with a 2.2-liter Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi diesel, putting out 118 kW (about 158 hp) of power and 385 Nm of torque (approximately 284 lbs-feet). A beefier 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi diesel engine is available with 147 kW (about 197 hp) of power and 470 Nm of torque (approximately 370 lb-ft of torque). A six-speed automatic or manual (yep, a 6-speed MANual baby!) transmissions are available.

“With the new Ford Everest, we’re further strengthening our showroom lineup across ASEAN markets with a fully capable and competitive premium SUV that works equally well as a comfortable and refined family vehicle or taking on the roughest terrains of Southeast Asia,” said Matt Bradley, president, Ford ASEAN. “It’s a completely new vehicle inside and out with a host of first-in-class features, providing unmatched value in its segment.”

The ground clearance is 225 mm (nearly nine-inches) and water-wading capability of 800 mm (about 30-inches). Numbers that are similar to the 2015 Ford Ranger.

If Ford ever considered using the Ford Everest in the North American market, it would compete with vehicles like the Dodge Durango and Nissan Pathfinder, two vehicles that are not capable of any serious off-road driving. What’s more, with Jeep slow to debut a three-row, off-road-capable SUV, the 2016 Ford Everest would have the market to itself for a while.

According to Ford: “Together with an advanced suspension that offers exceptional ride comfort and agile handling, the new Ford Everest’s spacious, modern interior with high-quality craftsmanship delivers a comfortable ride for up to seven passengers. Advanced, first-in-class features, including SYNC 2, Active Park Assist, and segment-first Curve Control and Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, make the new Ford Everest one of the smartest SUVs in its segment. First-in-class power-fold third-row seating and power liftgate add to flexibility and versatility.”

The 2015 Ford Everest has coil spring front and rear and a Watt’s linkage on the rear axle. There is an “intelligent” four-wheel drive system with an active transfer case with that works with Ford’s Torque on Demand and Terrain Management System. Ford’s Terrain Management System has a normal, snow/gravel/grass and a sand and rock setting. You can manually lock up the transfer case in low-range four-wheel drive mode for difficult and challenging terrain.

“The Ford Everest will help to expand our product footprint in the region with a tough and refined vehicle that enables drivers, their families, friends and colleagues to go anywhere comfortably – whether on urban roads or far off the beaten track,” said Richard Tilley, vehicle line director, Ford Asia Pacific. “From the EcoSport to the Everest, our SUV portfolio in Asia Pacific offers something for everyone.”

Ford Australia has yet to announce the price for the 2015 Ford Everest. The new Ford Everest will be manufactured at AutoAlliance Thailand in Rayong, Thailand. It will be available in several markets, but not in the USA. Pity.
